An empty loft, an adventurous couple and a vision of a cheerful family life: Selli and Frank embarked on an adventure that transformed their four walls into an oasis of comfort and innovation. The key to their success? A lot of passion for their own creativity combined with smart products from Busch-Jaeger.

Frank and Selli from the picturesque Black Forest are not only a couple and loving parents, but also creative minds with a shared vision: they wanted to create a home that was not only a cosy retreat for the family, but also a place of creativity and flexibility. Driven by their passion for "do it yourself" - and the experience of converting their own van - they set about renovating their rural dream loft far away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. One thing was clear to her: intelligent solutions from Busch-Jaeger should be the basis for her favourite project.

With an impressive floor space of 170 square metres, the loft is the first large-scale project that the trained media designer and teacher and the trained carpenter and visual marketing designer have worked on together. The thought "If you can convert a van, you can also build a flat" motivated them at the start of their exciting journey. After planning, one of the first steps of the project was to equip the open-plan flat with intelligent lighting solutions, such as dimmable LED light switches and motion sensors, which not only optimise energy consumption but also create a pleasant atmosphere. With the exception of the electrical and water installations and the installation of the new skylights, they mastered every task themselves. "The exciting thing is that people have invented countless technologies and great things over the last few centuries. We see combining our own ideas with smart technology as our secret recipe for realising our dream homes.
The euphoric phases, in which visible progress was made, characterised the 1.5-year process of building the loft. However, there were also moments of frustration, especially when it came to filling and plastering the walls. The fact that these were not finished by the originally planned move-in date turned out to be a bad combination with the general renovation effort and was therefore the self-proclaimed low point of the renovation. With a great deal of self-motivation and anticipation for their new home, the two of them ultimately mastered this arduous step.
Even when there was no water running on the day the toilet was installed, their own persistence - and agility - paid off: after many inventive failed attempts, they finally found a way to crawl to put the accidentally disconnected hose in its correct position behind the bathroom wall. In addition to such small steps with a big effect, Selli and Frank are now particularly proud of their open-plan kitchen, which is not only functional but also a central meeting point in the loft.
"We really liked the new kitchen: the special thing is that we now have a perfect view of the room when cooking at the kitchen island. We love this airy expanse!"
An all-round sustainable smarter home
When choosing the switch design, one thing was important to Frank and Selli: a minimalist and attractive look. The choice fell on future® linear! This is how the married couple came up with ideas and solutions that they would never have thought about otherwise. The entire family is particularly enthusiastic about the lighting control - because what could be smarter than switching off all the lights in a large living room at the touch of a button in the evening and ringing in the night's rest for young and old?

When Frank and Selli are not embellishing their loft with new ideas, they enjoy their freedom "on the road" in the Black Forest or as far as Lake Constance in their self-built van. The family loves spontaneous short trips into nature, which in turn gives them good reason to keep working on their campervan.
A perfect home for work, children and creativity
Today, Frank and Selli look back proudly on their masterpiece: their loft is not only a physical space, but also an expression of their individual creativity and joie de vivre. Thanks to the support of Busch-Jaeger, they were not only able to integrate smart solutions, but also realise innovative ideas. Their home is now the perfect place where work, children and a fulfilling life merge harmoniously. "It's probably the best combination we can imagine", because they can now combine their passion for DIY with their main job as content creators - and now in a place that offers them every opportunity to do so. Selli and Frank have proven that with creativity, perseverance and the right smarter home solutions, every home can become a personal masterpiece where DIY and smart technologies complement each other perfectly.
